Independent, survivor-centred and evidence-informed.

AfterTheChurch supports people affected by harmful religious experiences through information, education, signposting, advocacy, research and appropriate referral.

Religious neutrality

We do not determine theological truth and we do not oppose lawful religious belief. We focus on harm, dignity, safeguarding and accountability.

Survivor autonomy

Participation, interviewing, publication, anonymity and withdrawal are handled with meaningful choice and informed consent.

Editorial integrity

Claims should be verified responsibly, significant criticism should receive a reasonable right of reply, and corrections should be transparent.
